Reflections
Reflections is a national PTA program and it gives students the chance to submit art in one or all of the available arts categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, and Visual Arts.  The theme for this year is Show your Voice!  Submissions need to be sent electronically here: https://www.utahpta.org/ref (this is also where instructions and rules are found) by October 19th.

Red Ribbon Week
Our students and staff will be participating in our annual Red Ribbon Week, October 18 – 21. We are grateful to one of our parents, Andrew Young, and the fantastic videos he produces that our students will watch each day this week. The focus of the week is for students to learn how to say no to drugs and alcohol. Ask your students what they learned at school each day this week. The most powerful conversations about making safe and correct choices about drugs and alcohol happen at home.  Tuesday will be hat day, Wednesday will be crazy hair day, Thursday will be sports jersey day, and Friday will be wear red or camo day.

Magic Night
We are so excited for the great family fun nights our PTA is putting together.  We are having Jason Fun, magician extraordinaire, come perform for us on October 20th at 6:30 PM.  This is a free event for the entire family.  Please see the attached flyer and come enjoy a magical night.

Kona Ice Day
Our first spirit day of the year will be October 21st from 3:15-5:15 PM.  Come grab Kona Ice right in front of the school.  A portion of your purchase will come back to the PTA and will be used for field trips.  Field trips are currently funded mostly by the $25 donations teachers ask for at the beginning of the year.  This will be a way to help fund more field trips for the students throughout the year.   Come grab your Kona Ice right as school gets out or come back a little later.  If it is really cold that day (below 50 degrees), they will be serving hot cocoa and hot apple cider.  Prices are included in the flyer below.

Community Bond Presentation
If you have any questions about the upcoming school district bond or you want to learn more about it, please feel free to attend one of the upcoming education sessions.  The closest one to us will be held October 18th at 6:30 PM at American Fork High School in the auditorium.

Alpine Elementary PTA Fundraiser & Fun Run

Fun Run PTA Fundraiser
This week, we are excited to host this year’s Fun Run PTA Fundraiser! Last week, your student should have come home with a flyer with information surrounding this week’s Fun Run PTA Fundraiser, including details around the Fun Run itself happening THIS FRIDAY, September 30th, from 12:00 pm – 3:15 PM at Creekside Park. I have attached the full flyer with all the details, but just a few things to keep in mind:

Goal: Our fundraiser goal is $15,000. Your generous contributions this week directly enable several programs that would not be possible otherwise, which in turn support 4 fundamental goals for Alpine Elementary, including:

  • Creating opportunities to strengthen school unity

  • Promoting health & wellness

  • Encouraging attitudes of acceptance, kindness, & respect

  • Creating a culture that learning is exciting & fun

Our many PTA programs taking place throughout the school year, including Running Club, Kindness Club, Walk-to-School Wednesdays, the Chinese Lantern Festival, Red Ribbon Week (drug safety & awareness), White Ribbon Week (Internet safety), Battle of the Books, Fall Festival, Family Fun Nights, and the School Spring Carnival are some of the many programs your donations make possible!

Lunch from Chick-fil-A & Extra Recesses: One class from EACH GRADE with the most donations (averaged per student) will win lunch from Chick-fil-A!

How to Donate: There are multiple ways to donate this week, and you may donate anytime Monday through Friday! You may either send cash or check (payable to: Alpine Elementary PTA) in the envelope attached to last week’s flyer, or pay online (a small percentage charge is added) by visiting https:// alpineelementary.memberhub. com/store# or by scanning the QR code in the attached flyer to go directly to the site. Just PLEASE select YOUR CHILD’S HOMEROOM TEACHER when paying online so his or her class gets credit for your donation!

Fun Run Schedule at Creekside Park on Friday, September 30: Come support your students as they participate in the Fun Run! Thanks to the generous contributions of Doterra, all Alpine Elementary students will be getting an Alpine Elementary t-shirt for the run! Below is when each class will be running at the park.  They will run for 15 minutes, grab a snack and then head back to class.

  • First Grade – 12:45 PM

  • Kindergarten & Second Grade – 1:15 PM

  • Third Grade – 1:45 PM

  • Fourth Grades – 2:15 PM

  • Fifth Grade – 2:45 PM

  • Sixth Grade – Noon

Most importantly, we are grateful for our amazing Alpine Elementary community and for your support!

Please also follow Alpine Elementary PTA on Instagram @alpineelementarypta to keep up to date on everything going on!

Fall Festival

Come join us at the Fall Festival this Friday, September 30th 4-7 PM after the Fun Run!  We will have carnival games, a petting zoo, inflatables, prizes and food!  $6 wristband for carnival games. This is such a fun activity for the entire family to enjoy! Please note, there will be a small percentage charge added on to the cost if you are paying by credit card.

Reflections

Last week, the students had an assembly about the Reflections Art Program. Reflections is an incredible nation-wide program put on by the PTA that encourages children to be creative and involved in the arts. There is no fee to participate and there are several art categories. This year’s theme is “Show your voice…” and the submission deadline is in October.  Here is a link for information on how to create art for Reflections and what the rules are: Reflections Information for Parents | UtahPTA.org

We are excited to have our first Parent/Teacher conferences of this year. Please log on to your Parent Skyward page to access the calendar to sign up. We encourage everyone to please come and get an update on how your student(s) are doing in school. This is a fantastic time for parents and teachers to connect and answer any questions you may have. I have attached a short tutorial on how to sign up if you are unfamiliar with this process. Please let us know if you need assistance with this process. If you do not sign up, a time will be assigned to you.

Five12 Foundation Opportunity

We are very fortunate to have the chance to access the Five12 foundation and all they do for the students across the state. This organization is based here in Alpine and is one of the best operations run by some of the best people I know. This foundation provides much needed food and assistance to students who may need a bit of extra help at times. At Alpine Elementary, many students have been given weekend meals. These are distributed on Friday afternoons as students are leaving for the weekend. It is a process that is discrete and allows students to take home a bit of extra food as needed. Please let me know if you would like to be included on this list or if you have friends or neighbors who could possibly benefit from this fantastic program. If you would like, you may take a look at their website by clicking here. Five12.org

Cornbelly Opportunity

Cornbelly’s is opening this weekend!  If your family is planning on going to Cornbelly’s any time this season, use ALPINEPTA as your promo code and you can get $3 off your admission to Cornbelly’s
