Alpine Elementary 1st Annual Sock Drive

We are excited to announce the First Annual Alpine Elementary Sock Drive, hosted by Third Grade! We’re excited to kick off a new holiday tradition here at Alpine Elementary and invite everyone to participate.

Our goal is to collect NEW socks of any size for donation to local shelters. The drive will be running from Monday, December 4th through Friday, December 15th. Boxes will be provided for each grade to deposit their donated socks daily. Third grade will keep track of the daily donations, and we’ll display a poster in the main hallway to track each grade’s progress. The grade with the most donations by Friday, December 15th, will be rewarded with a special lunchtime treat during the week of December 18th!

Alpine Christmas Sing Date and Time

We want to make you all aware of the date for our annual Christmas Sing. We will be performing this on Wednesday, December 20th at 9:30 for parents. We invite all of you to put it on your calendar and plan on coming. We will also have a performance for our students on that same day at 2:15.

Schedule for last school day of December

Also, just wanted to make sure everyone is aware of the schedule for the last couple school days in December. December 21st will be the last day of school for students before the Christmas break. It is a minimal day so students will be excused at 12:45. The bus will run as normal, leaving the school at 12:55. We will serve lunch that day before they are excused. Additionally, there is no kindergarten that day. Please do not send your kindergartners to school that day!

Candlelight School Coin Drive

Please help us reach our goal of providing our sister school, Candlelight funding for their lunch program which consists of corn and beans.  For many of these students it’s the only meal they receive each day.  If we can raise enough for their lunch program the extra money will go towards purchasing supplies for their classrooms and a soda for each student as a holiday gift. Help your children round up spare change around the house or have them earn the coins by doing chores around the house.  The more meaningful you can make it the more they will remember their contribution. Candlelight is so very grateful for all of you and for your help!  They are grateful for the simple basics of life that help them survive. Let’s make it be a week of remembering all we are grateful for as well! Check out Alpine Elementary website for more details: Alpine.alpineschools.org

During the week of November 13th – 17th have your child bring:

Monday, November 13th: Pennies or cash

Tuesday, November 14th : Nickels or cash

Wednesday, November 15th: Dimes or cash

Thursday, November 16th: Quarters or cash

Friday, November 17th: Dollar or any coin amount

Note: if you send a check, make it payable to: Inside Out Learning or

contact Cherie Kelly (801 369-9145) with any questions.

“Words cannot express our feelings and appreciation for all you are doing for the children of Candlelight.  Thank you for making a difference in the lives of these children.

Thank you for your love,

Fred and Alice Afwai, Founders of Candlelight School

Halloween Information

We will be having our annual Halloween parade on Oct. 31st. We will be starting the parade at 1:15 and will be walking through the classrooms and ending in the gym. Please feel free to come and wait for the procession in the gym. The parade usually takes about an hour from start to finish.

This year, our 6th grade will be going on a field trip to the planetarium on Halloween. This will mean the 6th grade will not be participating in the parade. They will not arrive back at school until about 2:00

Class parties on Halloween will be happening from approximately 2:15-3:30. This is, however, class dependent on individual teacher schedules. Please check teacher emails for specific times.

Lastly, please remember that costumes for Halloween should not include masks of any kind. We need to be able to identify all students. This includes during the parade. Also, please do not bring any toy weapons to school. These will be collected and held in the office until the end of the day. Please refrain from blood or gore on costumes as well.

We are always excited to have Halloween here at Alpine. We hope everyone has fun planning fun and safe costumes for the holiday. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Parent/Teacher Conferences-Please Read this section!

We will be having our Fall Parent/Teacher conferences on Oct 4th and 5th. We will be holding the conferences on Wednesday from 4:00-5:30 and Thursday from 4:00-7:00. This year, you may have noticed that Parent/Teacher conferences are shorter than normal. This is because, as a district, we don’t feel the need to meet with every parent and student. If you have been contacted by your teachers, please sign up for a conference. If you have not been contacted, it is up to you to decide if you’d like to sign up for a time.

The Reflections Art Program is back and your kids are pumped to participate!

Last year Alpine Elementary had more entries than any other school in the NATION! And we can do it again!

We visited classrooms this week and asked who will enter – nearly every hand went up. Our hope is that you can keep the excitement alive and encourage your children to participate (they will also need your help submitting their artwork online).

Important dates/mark your calendar:

Lunch Party for participants – October 26

Awards Night/Art Showcase – November 14

We have prizes for every student that participates, prizes for classrooms with the highest participation, a party for all participants, and an art showcase/awards night for students and their families. (Prizes include Hale Theater tickets, Ballet West tickets, Shoot360 memberships, Gift Cards (restaurants, movie theaters, etc), Crumbl cookie cards, and lots more).

Entries need to be submitted electronically here: https://www.utahpta.org/ref (this is also where instructions and rules are found).

A reminder to everyone to please make sure your student(s) have money in their lunch accounts. If you need help with this, you can simply log on to linq Connect and register. In addition to making payments, you can view your student account balances, history, set up automatic payments and account balance alerts. Also, our kitchen can accept cash or checks for meal payments. Additionally, we cannot give change so all money given will be placed into your student’s account. If you have any questions or may need help, please do not hesitate to contact the main office at 801-610-8700.
