Candlelight Sister School Coin Drive this Week!

We are holding our annual coin drive fundraiser for our sister school, Candlelight School, next Monday through Friday.  A flyer should have gone home with your student this week with all the information, I’ve also included it below.  I’ve attached some additonal information about the school and the program as well.  We appreciate all your support and generosity.  Here’s to a great week of gratitude for Candlelight and for the community and friendship at Alpine Elementary.

Please help us reach our goal of providing our sister school, Candlelight, funding for their lunch program; which consists of corn and beans.  For many of these students it’s the only meal they receive each day.  If we can raise enough for their lunch program the extra money will go towards purchasing supplies for their classrooms and a soda for each student as a holiday gift.  Help your children round up spare change around the house or have them earn the coins by doing chores around the house.  The more meaningful you can make it the more they will remember their contribution.  Candlelight is so grateful for all of you and for your help! They are grateful for the simple basics of life that help them survive.  Let’s make it be a week of remembering all we are grateful for as well! Check out Alpine Elementary’s website for more details:  Alpine.alpineschools.org. Please see attachment for more information!

During the week of November 18th-22nd you can have your child bring:

Monday, November 18th: Pennies or cash

Tuesday, November 19th: Nickels or cash

Wednesday, November 20th: Dimes or cash

Thursday, November 21st: Quarters or cash

Friday, November 22nd: Dollar or any coin amount

Celebration for Alpine Elementary

We want to celebrate our students, teachers, support staff, and parents. Each year the Utah State Board of Education puts out a Report Card for every elementary school in Utah. This is based upon a lot of factors regarding proficiency and growth of our students in Language Arts, Math, and Science. This year, Alpine Elementary received the highest grade (#1 ranking) in the Alpine School District (60 schools) and we ranked #8 in the entire state (more than 500 elementary schools).  Our school and community should be very proud of our accomplishments this last year. We have a fantastic school and lots of great things happening. We look forward to continuing our high level of education being supported by a great district and district personnel. Congrats to everyone!

School Picture Retake Day

Picture retakes will be on Oct 30th. They will be in the morning and conclude before lunchtime. If you would like retakes, or if you were absent on the original picture day, please plan on having your picture taken on the 30th. I have attached the order form to select the package you would like.

Halloween Here at Alpine Elementary

We will be having our annual Halloween parade on Oct. 31st. We will be starting the parade at 1:30 and will be walking through the classrooms and ending in the gym. Please feel free to come and wait for the procession in the gym. The parade usually takes about an hour from start to finish.

Please remember that costumes for Halloween should not include masks of any kind. We need to be able to identify all students. This includes during the parade. Also, please do not bring any toy weapons to school. These will be collected and held in the office until the end of the day. Please refrain from blood or gore on costumes as well.

We are always excited to have Halloween here at Alpine. We hope everyone has fun planning fun and safe costumes for the holiday. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Seeking Performers, Talent & Volunteers for our Multicultural Family Event in May!

In lieu of a normal spring carnival (new district policy bans the use of any inflatables or rides) we are planning a big “Family Party” with a multicultural theme. We are hoping to provide entertainment/performances, food, games and crafts. We need your help to make it successful though!

Right now we are looking for 2 things:

1. People to participate on the planning committee

2. Any connections to any multicultural performers or entertainment (we’d love to find at least 5-8 performances to share that evening)

Chelsea Hertig is heading this up and really needs your help and community involvement to make this successful. Please email [email protected] for any leads on performers or if you’d like to help plan.

Thank you!
